Blueberry & Butter Pecan

Ice cream may not be the best reason to come to church but it never hurts. This Sunday night, October 23, we will be hosting a missions panel with the guests listed below. We will also be serving ice cream from Shermans in South Haven so be sure to join us at 6:00 pm.
Jason & Lisa Hovingh have been one of Immanuel's Global Partners in Kenya for many years serving with Heart of the Bride. For a few years they have had a growing desire to rub shoulders with and help people in areas where there is no one else sharing about the gospel of Jesus. Two  examples are the Zanzibari Omansis who need someone who speaks Swahili and likes agriculture to reach them and there are the Boni people near the island of Ilama.
Wayne Huhta has been a long-term Global Partner with Immanuel. Wayne (and his wife Esther who is now with the Lord) has a long history of involvement in radio work, much of it starting in Zeeland. In 1989 he was appointed a full-time missionary with HCJB and served in Texas and Arizona constructing and maintaining radio studios and transmitter sites. In 2003 Wayne and Esther transferred to the HCJB Global Technology Center in Elkhart, Indiana (now SonSet Solutions) where Wayne helps partner ministries establish missionary radio stations in worldwide locations.
Timothy Mang has been the pastor of Zo Baptist Church in Galemio, Myanmar. He is also the retired President of the Zo Baptist Association and Baptist College. Timothy attended Immanuel 18-20 years ago while attending Western Seminary in Holland. Timothy brings some unique insights into what has been taking place in the Christian church in Myanmar (formerly Burma) over the past number of years.

This Will Be Unique

This Sunday, October 23, you will have a unique opportunity to participate in one of the following classes. Both options will be presented in each class hour so make your choice and join in.
Adult Classes at 9:00 & 10:30 am—Jason & Lisa Hovingh—The View

Jason & Lisa Hovingh have been one of Immanuel's Global Partners in Kenya for many years serving with Heart of the Bride. They will be giving an update on their ministry along with a focus on unreached people groups.
Adult Classes at 9:00 & 10:30 am—Greg Heath—room #L014

Greg Heath is Vice President of Development for iBAM (International Business as Mission). For over 35 years Greg has been active in business in West Michigan in the areas of banking, real estate development, and as the CFO of a Bible college; all while being involved in his local church. In 2015 Greg was introduced to iBAM and quickly joined their team. His passion is to share the love of Jesus Christ along with the story of how iBAM looks to mentor, assist entrepreneurs in navigating the development process of the business and building the local church currently focusing in Eastern Europe and the Balkan region.
Our next round of adult class options will start on Sunday, November 6 and run for 7 weeks. Check your church mailbox this week when you come for our missions focus to get all the details and be prepared to sign up for the selection that would best help you "take one-step-forward" in your spiritual health.

What is Happening in China?

This Sunday, October 23, we start our annual missions focus. Our speaker in each service, 9:00 and 10:30, will be Samuel Tan giving us insight into the church in China.

Samuel Tan is the International Director of Northeast Asia for Trans World Radio. Samuel worked in the corporate world until age 45 before joining TWR. The Northeast Asia region covers mainland China, Japan, North and South Korea and Mongolia. In China, besides the Chinese who are considered a reached people group, there are many people groups who are still unreached. North Korea is the most closed country in the world. Japan has been known as the graveyard for missionaries; it is the second most unreached people group in the world. Get a sense of what God is doing in each of these areas by joining us at Immanuel this Sunday.
This Sunday, October 23, our worship time in each morning service will be led by Perry LaHaie.

Perry LaHaie is a singer, songwriter, worship leader who's  recorded 7 albums of original songs including his latest release, AHEAD. Perry's music focuses on the beauty of Jesus and his heart for the least reached: Music that pulses with a passion for Jesus and for those who don't have the gospel. Perry serves with Frontiers, a ministry to Muslims in over 50 countries and he's the morning show host at 80.3 Moody Radio West Michigan from 6-9 am weekdays.
Christmas may seem like a long way off but some of you are already making preparations. One special way you can prepare is by putting together some gifts for a child that may receive little or nothing this year. Once again we are partnering with Samaritan's Purse to come alongside children. Stop by the display in the Commons to pick up an empty box and details on how you can participate.
