This is the week.

Much preparation goes into the Christmas season from baking, hanging lights, finding the right tree, to shopping. How often do we prepare our hearts? This Sunday, November 29, at 6pm we hope to do just that. Before things get crazy with our schedules we want to pause to prepare our hearts for Christ. Join us for a unique night of worship as we get ready for this special season. Bring a friend along!

We hope to have nursery through age 3 available for the evening. If you can help, please talk with Russ on Sunday morning.

Preparations are well underway for Bethlehem Village which is coming up in just a couple of weeks. We could use your help in the following ways. FIRST, we are setting up the Bethlehem stable this Sunday morning, the 29th, right after the second service. We need a few strong guys to help with this. SECOND, we will be setting up the shops on Monday, December 7, from 8:30-11:00 and we could use a few guys for that. THIRD, Decorating the shops will happen on Tuesday, December 8, from 5:30 to 7:30 and then again on Thursday, December 10, from 5:30 to 7:30. FINALLY, we could use a few more people to help us at the event on Saturday, the 12th. Be sure to pick up an invite card while you are at church and pass them out to lots of people.
This Sunday morning, November 29, we will be taking another look into the gospel of Mark. We can learn a lot about prayer from the teaching and example of Jesus. That will be our focus this week so join us at 9:00 or 10:30.

"Although our society tries to remove
Jesus from the Christmas holiday, he's the sole reason for its existence.  Despite what retailers want you to believe, Christmas would still happen without overloaded shopping carts and maxed-out credit cards.
As followers of Jesus, our efforts to honor the true meaning of Christmas do battle with our consumer culture. The temptation to overindulge our children isn't limited to December, though. All year long, kids of all ages are bombarded by ads for "must-have" items that promise fun, excitement, and even
popularity.
The result? Kids can become selfish and self-centered, and families' priorities can shift from heavenly things to earthly things. Here are some tips for taming the materialism monster this Christmas so you can
concentrate on the good news of Jesus' birth" (December newsletter)

You Can Help!

This is going to be another great year of reaching out to our community through this unique event. On that Saturday afternoon the Court here at Immanuel (where we normally have our Sunday morning services) will be transformed into what the bazaar in Bethlehem may have looked like. Adults and kids will have the chance to be engaged with crafts, animals, people, and the Christmas story.

To make this a truly memorable event we need your help. Many of you have already signed up for the spots we have planned. However, there is still more we would like to do with your assistance. Most of these roles require no preparation, just the willingness to dress like a person from Bible times (we provide this for you), interact with families while they work on simple crafts (we provide this for you), and share a smile with the guests who will be with us for this 3 hour time slot (you must provide the smile).

Think about helping us with one of the roles listed below (children, teens, and adults can all help). Send a reply to Dave Faris (
dave@immanuel.cc) and he will answer any questions and give you more details. Thanks for your partnership in this project.

VILLAGE PEOPLE – We need 3 more people to dress as town's people and simply roam the room and chat with guests.

GREETER / REGISTRATION – We need 2 more people to help welcome guests as they arrive and get registered for the event.

Much preparation goes into the Christmas season from baking, hanging lights, finding the right tree, to shopping. How often do we prepare our hearts? November 29 at 6pm we hope to do just that. Before things get crazy with our schedules we want to pause to prepare our hearts for Christ. Join us for a unique night of worship as we get ready for this special season. Bring a friend along!

We hope to have nursery through age 3 available for the evening. If you can help, please email the church office at
info@immanuel.cc .

It is not too late to jump in on this Sunday morning adult elective. The class runs through December 20 and is a DVD study featuring Emmerson Eggerichs unpacking five of the life changing principles he presents at the Love & Respect marriage conference. There is a cost of $9 for the study guide. The class meets in room #L014 in the lower level of Immanuel at 10:30. This Sunday, November 22, is only week two so come on along.
If you would like to learn more about the life of Immanuel Church (how we operate, our priorities, how we see our future) with the possibility of joining our membership, we would be excited to talk with you. Contact Dean for more details about scheduling a discussion. You can write "membership" on your Sunday morning welcome card, send him a note at dean@immanuel.cc, or call the church office at 392-1814.
The first snowfall of the season is coming this weekend. Just a friendly reminder for the future, if there is ever a question about weather related cancellations related to Immanuel the best place to check first is our church website. We will also try to get this same information on major news outlets.
