Verna Goossen, 96, of Holland, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, October 24, 2015.
Verna was born April 12, 1919, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Leander and Alina (Hendrickson) Strom. On January 28, 1941, she married Karl Goossen. Verna and Karl raised their family in Holland and were members of Immanuel Church. Verna worked for many years at Harrington School prior to her retirement. Verna was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mom, and grandmother. In 1981, she was preceded in death by her husband Karl. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law Kelly Fogerty.
She is survived by her children: Tom and June Goossen, JoAnn and Ron Pace, Harvey and Carol Goossen, Eileen Fogerty, Mary and Phil Schaap; 16 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Lester Mattson, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th Street, Holland 49423. Her grandson, Pastor Alyn Goossen will officiate. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 am, Wednesday, prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Graafschap Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel Church Building Fund.
