Tai Afrik passed away over the weekend. Tai was the husband of Hawa Afrik, a member of Immanuel Church. She and her family would be encouraged by your attendance at his funeral service.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Immanuel Church, 325 104th Ave. Holland. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, October 23, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland.
Dr Tai Afrik, 73 years old of Holland, Michigan, born in Freetown, Sierra Leone departed on 17-October, 2015. He passed away peacefully surrounded with love from family.
He devoted his professional life to social welfare and adult education. For 12 years, he worked as the Director in both the Ministry of Social Welfare and Education in Sierra Leone. After leaving the Ministry of Education in 1981, he worked for UNESCO developing and implementing literacy and adult education programs. He was promoted to Regional Director of Congo Kinshasa until he retired in 2002.
Dr Tai Afrik is survived by his Wife Hawa Afrik of 44 years, Sons Taiyoh Afrik, Oseh Telli Afrik, Kwame Afrik and Bamikeh Afrik; Daughters Viviane Afrik and Kadie Afrik, grandchildren Tabahn, Ayisha, Tai; Norah, Nina, Idris; Tai, Bridget and Beatrice; in-laws Robyn Afrik, Matt Williams and Janet Afrik. We will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by a twin brother.
