What is Going On?

We all know the world and culture around us is changing constantly and sometimes it feels difficult to keep up. What about missions? What is going on these days in the area of spreading the gospel around the world? What does the future look like? These are some of the questions that will be addressed this Sunday, October 30, at Immanuel during each class hour.
Adult Classes at 9:00 & 10:30 am—Steve Holman—The View

Steve Holman serves with Closed Door Ministries International, a ministry that empowers the persecuted church. Based in West Michigan, he travels as often as possible to work with CDM partners in Asia, including Burma, Thailand and Philippines. His particular role is theological training and working with Bible college faculties in places that have been closed to resident Western missionaries. When possible he teaches graduate modules in Bible Colleges as well.   Most recently he traveled to western Kenya to advise a group of ministries on making their churches sustainable and improving the education of their pastors.

Steve will be leading a class on Current Trends and Issues in Missions in the adult class hours. This class considers the megatrends of missions in 2016. He will discuss the generational changes in the missions force as well as where the church ought to go from here. He will look at how the church is doing missions today and evaluate its effectiveness for our rapidly changing world.
Adult Classes at 9:00 & 10:30 am—Mark Sigmon—room #L014

Mark Sigmon is the founder of Global Impact Services, a missions mobilization and education ministry. Over the past 25 years he has led a mission organization, mission committees, and short term teams; served in forty countries; and taught and written on missions. He coordinates the Perspectives missions course and an annual missions conference, leads a local ethnic outreach, and consults with churches and missionaries on mission strategies.

Mark will be leading a class on The Task Remaining. The Great Commission calls us to make disciples of all nations. What is the current status? Where do we need to go? How will we get there? In this session we'll answer these questions and find a greater passion for our greatest mission.
