Memorial Day is a Day of remembering, like in Joshua chapter 4. "In this passage, the Israelites have just finished crossing the Jordan River on dry land. God instructs each of the 12 the leaders to take one stone from the dry river bed and create a memorial to Him. After they assemble the memorial on the other side of the river, Joshua makes this announcement, "In the future when your descendants ask their parents, 'What do these stones mean?' tell them, 'Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.' For the LORD your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over. The LORD your God did to the Jordan what he had done to the Red Seawhen he dried it up before us until we had crossed over. He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the LORD is powerful and so that you might always fear the LORD your God." (verses 21-24). The memorial was to remind the people of God's power, might and protection over them in a historical context." (from cornerstonesforparents.com) What are some things that God has done in your families life that you should remember? Go on a walk, pick some stones and stack them in your yard. This will be a remembrance for your family and those who visit of what God has done. |
