Memorial Day is a Day of remembering, like in Joshua chapter 4.  "In this passage, the Israelites have just finished crossing the Jordan River on dry land. God instructs each of the 12 the leaders to take one stone from the dry river bed and create a memorial to Him.  After they assemble the memorial on the other side of the river, Joshua makes this announcement, "In the future when your descendants ask their parents, 'What do these stones mean?' tell them, 'Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.' For the LORD your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over. The LORD your God did to the Jordan what he had done to the Red Seawhen he dried it up before us until we had crossed over. He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the LORD is powerful and so that you might always fear the LORD your God." (verses 21-24).

The memorial was to remind the people of God's power, might and protection over them in a historical context." (from cornerstonesforparents.com)

What are some things that God has done in your families life that you should remember?  Go on a walk, pick some stones and stack them in your yard.  This will be a remembrance for your family and those who visit of what God has done.

LAST CHANCE TO HELP!

View this email in your browser

We desire to host four Back Yard Bible clubs this year.  We are in need of one more host to finalize the fourth club.  We have the space, a local campground, but we have no hosts.  Please consider representing Immanuel and share Christ with our area children.  If there is no response this week we will host only three clubs.  Don't miss out on this opportunity.

Only 2:00pm to 3:30pm, Monday thru Thursday, June 29 - July 2.  Contact Dave Faris 616-335-1296 or dave@immanuel.cc

Thanks for your help!

Over 20 lasagnas were made by kids for the home-bound and those in need of a meal.

So far we have had only ONE family participate
This is easy and doesn't even take much time

Handing out these meals is a great encouragement to those who will receive them.

We had one individual say, "I have never had anyone come and visit me before".

Show your children spreading kindness, and putting others first, is a priority and get these meals where they need to go.

  • Meals are in the church frezzer
  • Addresses are attached to the meals
  • Grab meals and off you go, spreading kindness and sharing in the fun!

Please email or call 616-392-1814, to participate

"When it comes to teaching children to honor God and other people, it's tempting to relegate that task to church and Sunday school. But like most qualities, respect begins at home. As parents, you have the greatest spiritual and emotional influence on your kids. The good news is that instilling honor and respect doesn't take a lot of extra effort. In fact, the best "lessons" come through your everyday examples. Children notice how you treat them. They notice how you treat the other people you come into contact with, too.

In this months Newsletter there are a variety of ways to help practice honor and respect.  Check it out
